Cam Lasley – Interview

Cam Lasley is an artist, role model and inspiration to people everywhere with any kind of people everywhere with any kind of disability – or anything that makes them different. He is the epitome of the change we all hope to see for 2014 and his message is to spread acceptance, equality and to stop bullying those who stand out in the crowd.

Over the last five years CAM LASLEY has released the acclaimed albums”The Man Himself” and “In My Face” under the name LAZ D, reaching a wide a wide audience performing at night clubs, music festivals, Buddy Walks and Special Olympics events across the country. Now at the age of 30, CAM begins a new chapter of his life writing songs that reflect becoming a man, a role model, and an artist, with his new album, the first under his own name CAM LASLEY “AGAINST THESE WALLS”. By adding elements of pop and rock into the songs, and collaborating with some of independent musics finest vocalist, the new album has a wide musical landscape giving the songs an immediacy and focused lyrical outlet for CAM’S important and powerful message.

Doctors and physical therapists weren’t sure what to tell Marcy and Tom Lasley when their second child came into the world 30 years ago. Cameron Lasley was born in 1982 with Down syndrome, and in those first days, pediatricians didn’t know whether he would walk or talk or do anything other kids do. These days, Cam does more than walk and talk. He is an inspiring Hip Hop artist who has toured widely and released several albums.
